This is a skit I wrote for my Economics class. Enjoy!

LUCY
Charlie Brown you need some advice
CHARLIE BROWN
I do?
LUCY
Yes you do. But first my fee (shakes can)
CHARLIE BROWN
(takes out a nickel)
LUCY
Due to inflation my fee has risen from 5¢ to 25¢
CHARLIE BROWN
Oh good grief
LUCY
My fee please (Charlie Brown pays). Oh don’t you love the sound of money? Here is your advice: beware of inflation.
CHARLIE BROWN
What does that even mean?
LINUS
(Enters with Peppermint Patty) Look Charlie Brown, inflation is a way of life you can’t avoid it.
PEPPERMINT PATTY
Chuck, there’s always gonna be inflation. People think they know things but they really don’t – that’s inflation.
LINUS
Actually, inflation is the rise in the general level of prices
LUCY
But there are different types of inflation (takes out a poster to illustrate). First there is creeping inflation.
PEPPERMINT PATTY
Its creepy like a ghost or ghoul.
LINUS
That’s when prices rise 1% to 3% per year
CHARLIE BROWN
So if I wanted to buy a $1 candy it would actually cost me $1.03?
LUCY
Exactly. Then there’s galloping inflation.
PEPPERMINT PATTY
It gallops at you like a horse.
LINUS
It happens when prices rise at 100% to 300%
CHARLIE BROWN
So my 1¢ candy would actually cost me $3?
LUCY
(nodding) But the scariest of all is hyper inflation.
PEPPERMINT PATTY
You gotta be careful when it comes to hyper inflation. If you eat too much sugar you get hyper and inflated.
LINUS
Really it’s when prices rise at 500% or more.
CHARLIE BROWN
(dismayed) So my 1¢ candy actually costs $5? Augh!
LUCY
Don’t forget about deflation
PEPPERMINT PATTY
If you actually explain to someone that they are wrong their head gets deflated.
LINUS
Deflation is when there is a decrease in prices
CHARLIE BROWN
So my $5 candy would only cost 50¢? But what actually changes the prices?
LINUS
Interest rates, the Federal Reserve Chairman changes how much money you have to pay back on something you borrowed. That can cause inflation or deflation.
LUCY
But we poor workers need a raise in wages just to beat inflation.
PEPPERMINT PATTY
I have my baseball bat at home do you want me to get it?
LINUS
What she means is that if she wants to buy things with her money she’s gonna need more of it to buy what she wants.
CHARLIE BROWN
I can’t stand it! (exit)
