8-track, callous, Dissapearing Writer's Bump Syndrome, google, inspiration, mark of a writer, reminiscing, writer's bump futurnovelist556

So I was looking at my hands today. No real reason. Anyways, I noticed the little writer’s bump on my right middle finger. I could have sworn that it had been bigger. So I googled it and found this article. It discusses the phenomenon of the dissapearing callouses due to technology. I won’t bore you with the details because if you really care you will read the article yourself.
Other links I looked at on the topic discussed the same phenomenon. I am sad to say I have contracted DWBS (Dissapearing Writer’s Bump Syndrome).
Most people regard that rough patch on their finger as a nuisance. As for me I feel it is the mark of a writer. I love writing my books and stories by hand, it bonds me with the generation of writers before me who had not other way to communicate their work. But now with technology it has become a relative of the 8-track.
So what is my point? I’m not really sure. I guess I am reminiscing about my childhood, where everything needed to be written by hand. And I am also acknowedging the past writers on whom I draw inspiration.

2009 Guide To Literary Agents, BookAngst 101, literary agents, marriage futurnovelist556

Unless you are well versed in the art of negotiating contracts, you need a literary agent. The best way to find one is to get a copy of Guide To Literary Agents and send out query letters (which I will discuss later).
Why get an agent? First, books that are submitted to published under a literary agent’s name are looked at before the unsolicited stuff. Second, they will negotiate any contracts so you get your terms and conditions. (more…)

I have been reading other blogs. Whose blogs they are is not really important. What is important is what the bloggers actually said: Don’t quit your day job.
I am actually very surprised that I hadn’t mentioned this before. That was probably one of the most important statements you will ever hear in your writing career. Take it to heart, it is absolutely true.
I am sure that many of you upon reading that will prepare your hate mail, but hear me out, and after that if you are not thoroughly convinced send the mail. (more…)

I was looking through all my posts and let me say I am so proud of myself! I promised to write once a week and for every month there are at least 3 entries.
Nothing else. My life is simple. I did go to a bookstore today and looked at more books about writing.
One, which I will be forever kicking myself for forgetting is Writer’s Market 2009. Every year they come out with a comprehensive list of publishing houses (including what kinds of books they represent, contact information, etc.). If you are serious about getting your stuff published this is one that is a must have. (more…)

Bertolt Brecht, independent film, overcome adversity, The Savages futurnovelist556
9:58 pm
Well sort of. I just watched The Savages, a great indie film about the end of life. Anyways, the two main characters are writers. Wendy writes plays and her brother Jon is writing a book about Bertolt Brecht. In the end they overcome their hardships and Wendy’s play is produced.
The writing isn’t a main part but its always nice to see writers rise up and overcome adversity.
(Note: the film contains language and sexuality, so don’t watch around kids)
