Excuses, Gloria Gaynor, I Will Survive, insurance policy, NaNoWriMo, word quota futurnovelist556

So I am going to be very busy these next few weeks. NaNoWriMo is coming and it will take all my strength to finish (My insurance policy on the contest is fool-proof). So I may not be adding things as often as I should. More specifically, I will not add anything until I havce reached my weekly word quota of 11,669. I am doing this so that I will not procrastinate on this blog.
You will miss me, I know. You will survive. (Anybody else have Gloria Gaynor* play in their head as soon as they read that?)
* Gloria sang “I Will Survive”

This is a nightmare I had this morning. I wrote it in prose because, well, I’m a writer. Enjoy.
In an old house, the kind you always see on the cover of books of horror stories for children, in a room was a girl. She started to hear voices. They made her laugh. Anyone looking at her would have guessed she had taken some kind of drug from the way she laughed, so carefree.
Deep in the night the girl was still euphoric. Yet she was on the roof and you knew what she was about to do. You saw it from her point of view: She was walking to the edge of the roof. And her head was parallel to the pavement. Then a blackout.
From the interior of the house someone was looking at her body and the pool of blood surrounding her head. The person seemed concerned as she stared at the girl’s face but concerned for another reason entirely. She walked up a two steps that led to the hallway of the upper rooms. She met with an older woman, the matron of the house. She had a motherly essence about her. The woman took charge of the situation and guided the people in her house as to what to do. (more…)

Jean-Marie Gustave le Clézio, nobel laureate, nobel prize, novels, philosopher futurnovelist556

This is an interesting quote I found from the Nobel winner Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio:
“My message will be very clear; it is that I think we have to continue to read novels. Because I think that the novel is a very good means to question the current world without having an answer that is too schematic, too automatic. The novelist, he’s not a philosopher, not a technician of spoken language. He’s someone who writes, above all, and through the novel asks questions.”
A very deep message. Thoughts?

writing, no planning, inside joke, insomnia, sleeplessness, no expectations, go with the flow futurnovelist556
11:39 pm
Last night I tried something new. Just writing, no plans. Really I had no idea what I was going to do at all. I had a title that wasn’t even supposed to be one. It was an inside joke between my sisters and I.
So last night I was having a horrible time sleeping. So I got up and picked up this old journal I had lying around. I erased whatever was in there and started writing. I started very simply: “For those of you who are reading this looking for …” And I just went from there. My characters created themselves and their story just came as I wrote. It was as if I had the story stored in the pen.
I’ve only gotten three pages in but I still have no idea what to expect. I think its a good idea to just write like that. Because creativity can be stifled by high expectations. Just go with the flow, as if it doesn’t even matter. You will be surprised what comes of it.
