A Genius Invention … StumbleUpon Tuesday, Jun 2 2009

Hey all!

Does anyone still read this blog? Who cares! I’m still going to write like people do. So an update on everything. I’ve started writing again (little but significant things). I’m on medication and going to therapy for my OCD. I decided not to go to any of the colleges I applied to but I am taking some classes at community college.

But one of the most exciting things is that I’ve discovered StumbleUpon! I have found so many wonderful resources for us writing types. Too many to just post, so I will have to sort through them first.

Best of luck to all!

PS – If any of you have OCD and need some support, please visit Stuck In A Doorway. They have been so wonderful to me and I’m sure they can help you guys.

OCD – Not A Joke Monday, Mar 16 2009

I’ve been diagnosed with OCD. What does this have to do with you readers? A bit actually. I haven’t been able to touch a pen or type anything creative for a while and its because of this OCD. For those of you who have been wondering why I haven’t updated anything in a LONG time, you have your reason.

I’m looking for a new therapist now, so hopefully I will be back to my creative self soon.

I Owe An Explanation Wednesday, Feb 25 2009

So I’ve been back from Boston for over a month now, and I haven’t updated. Why?

Various reasons.

One reason is that I have nothing to update. I haven’t written anything. I haven’t edited my NaNoWriMo novel. As a writer I have been lazy. Another reason is that I’ve been really sick. I won’t go into details but let’s just say its been affecting my whole life, not just my writing. I even took time off of work because I was so sick.

I could make up a hundred more, weak, but valid excuses. But I don’t want to bore the poor people who still read this blog. I can’t make any promises, but I am feeling a little better, so I will try harder to update. Did you guys believe that? Yeah me either.

On a positive note i have started reading Oliver Twist. I rather like it. Dickens is a little like wading through a marsh: slower but you are still moving along. (Nice analogy huh?)

Boston? In January? Sunday, Jan 25 2009

So I am leaving for Boston on Monday Morning. I will still try to post stuff (though I have been failing miserably as of late), but if I don’t at least I have a valid excuse.

President Barack Obama’s Speech Tuesday, Jan 20 2009

Did you watch the speech? I heard it on the radio and it was amazing! Here it is for all to see:

My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans. (more…)

Someone’s Had A Change Of Heart … Thursday, Jan 15 2009

So college application season is coming to a close. How many of you have applied to college? Well now you can count me among that number.

Yes, I have done the unthinkable and applied to college. I have no idea what came over me, but now I may be a college student in the future. Its bizarre to think about because I made such a convincing arguement  against college.

Well, things change … that’s all I can say about that. I would appreciate you guys keeping the “I told you so’s”  and such to a minimum on the comments. I know I deserve them though, so go ahead.

Happy New Year! Thursday, Jan 1 2009

Welcome to 2009! All predictions indicate that this will be the best year ever. Even though I have always been a terrible resolution keeper I figure this year is a good year to try.

But other resolutions are, well less important. So here are my 2009 Writing Resolutions.

  1. Finish my 2009 NaNoWriMo Novel – Edit it and try to sell it.
  2. Focus on finishing my other NaNoWriMo novels – the ones I failed at writing.
  3. Find a publisher – someone to be my Yoda in the crazy publishing world
  4. Become a millionaire

Okay, the last one is a joke, but I can dream can’t I? So fess up, what are your New Years Writing Resolutions?

Happy Christmas! Wednesday, Dec 24 2008

Its a little early for us on the West Coast, but some of you out there may already be celebrating. I hope you all get many writing-related gifts.

And for those of you who participated in NaNoWriMo: Please donate!

NaNoWriMo Is Over … Now What? Friday, Dec 12 2008

I’ve been doing a lot of nothing lately. NaNoWriMo was just so exhausting that now I can’t even think about writing.  So I have decided to spend the time between the end of my first draft and the beginning of the editing process to catch up on my reading. It is absolutely essential that writers are also avid readers.

So what should you read? Anything really. Make sure your list includes all kinds of books: the ones you love and some of the stuff you wouldn’t normally read. So read some fantasy, mystery and/or biography.

I have a LOT of books on my list, so if you need any ideas just leave me a comment and I’ll give you some to get started. On the other hand, if you have any must-read books, tell me about them.

Snow? In Cyberspace? Saturday, Dec 6 2008

Heck yes! There’s snow on wordpress!

Personally I think this is the most amazing thing ever. Its right up there with sliced bread.
